Play Speak
Antigonus' eyes were not looking anywhere, but just staring blankly.
Watching this scene, Klein was a little speechless.
During the time he met Antigonus, Klein could hardly detect any emotional fluctuations on his face. It seemed that he always had an indifferent expression.
Those words that expressed emotions or opinions were more like a kind of indifferent flattery than a true expression of feelings. The emotions that were read out were too ethereal, even making Klein doubt the authenticity of these thoughts and emotions.
Did He rely on His clown powers to deliberately put on this cold face? Did He say these words on purpose to shake my attitude and beliefs? Did He do this to guide me to achieve other goals?
Or maybe He is too lazy to make any more modifications or concealments, and everything about Him is laid out naked before me, the Old God, and everything about Him is truly powerless and desolate.
After experiencing long years of torture, Antigonus no longer wanted to fight against fate.
In other words, this kind of giving up and not caring was Antigonus' last struggle.
So what exactly did Antigonus want to achieve through this struggle?
Would He wish to be promoted to God? But it sounds like He was forced to become Sequence One by Himself—by the [Secret]—in order to create a better tool to guard the Rorsted Archipelago for Himself.
Would He desire power and influence? But it seemed that He had been living peacefully on the Rorsted Archipelago for thousands of years. The only extraordinary move He made was to establish the Society of Virtue in the past three hundred years. He had no other desire to expand his territory.
Would He do anything to stay alive? But He obviously didn't care about life or death anymore, so He probably didn't have such a strong desire to survive.
……etc……
What if...what Antigonus wants now is just a kind of...simple peace?
This statement seems a bit too anthropomorphic...
Klein would be the first to laugh out loud when he heard that an ancient demon wolf that was tens of thousands of years old now dreamed of playing house with its sister and eating fruit.
...Huh? Why do I want to laugh so much?
Hey, never mind...
Klein ignored the sudden thought bubble and turned his thoughts back to Antigonus.
It was difficult for him to define what kind of feelings Antigonus now had towards the Mother of Heaven.
Perhaps it was the kind of universal brother-sister relationship? Klein disagreed. The so-called brotherhood was nothing more than humans projecting their beautiful yearning for their own lives onto God based on their own weak bodies and dangerous environment. They were just using a logical concept based on human nature to speculate on natural mythical creatures.
In fact, there is no such thing as human nature for mythical creatures. When humans were singing praises of brotherhood, Antigonus was eating his human brothers and sisters as snacks, and the so-called singing was just the syllables of his chewing.
But will the long-term coexistence and torture allow a born mythical creature - or two - to be tainted with a bit of so-called humanity?
…This sounds more like some kind of fairy tale.
After working so hard in the extraordinary world for so long, one should not expect any human brilliance from such a naturally mythical creature, Klein thought. This was one of the lessons he learned from Leonard's story. If there was any, it was at most the pollution caused to Antigonus by the anchor of the Rorsted Archipelago.
——Under the pressure of the [Mysterious] Oracle, it was inevitably polluted.
……But……
Looking at the desolate Antigonus, Klein thought of another face, the real self from the future that he saw in the illusion.
Will my final ending be like His, hidden under luxurious and exquisite cloth, but so sad and desolate, empty and pale?
"...I didn't expect you two siblings to have such a good relationship."
Klein asked tentatively.
"Good relationship?"
Antigonus looked at Klein.
"Uh...I want to ask, do you love your sister?"
"No, I don't."
Antigonus averted his empty gaze.
“Whether it’s the love between siblings, lovers, colleagues, or even the love between master and servant… any kind of love you can imagine is missing.
"The so-called love is nothing more than a fantasy imposed on us demon wolves based on our shallow cognition.
"But if you insist on asking me to give you an answer as the Lord of Mysteries..."
Antigonus finally looked under the glass.
"It's just a trivial sympathy between the remnants of history."
"...I think you are just a hypocrite..." Klein muttered softly, "You are the only person who is stubborn."
"So what kind of answer do you want to hear from me?"
Antigonus stared at Klein and finally stood up from the floor.
"You want to hear that I love my sister to death, that I am willing to sacrifice everything for my sister, that I have become what you want me to be, that I have been thoroughly tainted by the pollution from the Rorsted Archipelago, to the point that I have developed that fragile and pedantic [humanity], so that you can completely control me. As long as you control Mother Sky, you can manipulate me at will and turn me into your plaything, your living puppet, and the extension of your will...
"Then I'm sorry, I'm afraid I'll disappoint you."
"How cold-hearted you are, you born mythical creatures..."
"...When I tell you the truth, you find it offensive, and when I tell you a lie, you suspect me of being unfaithful. It's really hard to deal with you."
Antigonus frowned.
"What kind of identity and personality did you make up for this clone?"
He looked at Klein with a look that was almost curious.
"Why did your true self fabricate such a fake human being? Is this your evil taste as the Lord of Mysteries?
"Your clone now looks like a human, but it's actually a fake with a lot of impurities mixed in. You're using all your imagination and cognition to figure out how humans would react to this situation, while racking your brains to imitate humans.
"But - why do you want to do such a poor imitation? You are an Old God. You can either let your clone be yourself, or simply arrange a completely human identity. Why choose such a poor and twisted personality?"
Antigonus found it difficult to understand this strange situation, so he chose to play badly very smoothly.
"Hey, hey, hey, what does this have to do with me? Anyway, you can't speculate on God."
"You ask me, who should I ask?"
Klein laughed and passed over the topic.
“But what I’m more curious about is how the Mother of Heaven came to Bayam? Shouldn’t She be in the hands of the Church of Evernight?”
"You ask me, who should I ask?"
Antigonus did not even turn his head.
